Growing up in Southern Utah, Dr. Gillespie knew from a young age that he wanted to be a veterinarian. After completing undergraduate studies at Utah State University, he completed his DVM training at Oklahoma State University in 2003. He began his career in a busy veterinary emergency hospital in the Salt Lake City area for 9 years then moved on to general practice in Southern Utah before arriving in Virginia in early 2022.
Dr. Gillespie is an Officer in the United States Army Veterinary Corps. He served as the Theater Veterinary Consultant in Afghanistan as well as the Senior Veterinary Officer and Chief of Clinical Operations while mobilized with the theater medical command in Kuwait.
He currently lives in Castleton with his daughter, two cats, and his dog Percy.
